KCSTRA is a group of residents, hosts, local businesses, and advocates who understand and protect the rights of homeowners to responsibly rent their properties. We believe in fair and reasonable regulations of short-term rentals in Kansas City, and know the value that private hosting brings to our area's economy.
We work to develop reasonable regulations and responsible management, serving as a resource and platform for our members with updates on policy proposals, relevant news, and opportunities for action.
Our mission is to balance a thriving short-term rental community which supports both property owners' options and neighborhoods — collaborating with and educating our community, public officials, STR owners/operators, and associated businesses.

KCSTRA was founded in 2023 by Kristen Doppelt, Susan Brown and Laura Williams in response to Kansas City, MO regulations threatening our businesses. We have grown and continue to defend our property rights at the Municipal level in both Missouri and Kansas and at the state level with our state group — the MO Vacation Home Alliance — MOVHA.org.
